At Monte, we focus on producing safe, non-toxic and healthy furniture.
The furniture we sit on, lounge on and sleep on really matters.
On average, people spend 90% of their time indoors, and indoor air is up to 5X more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air pollution is caused by chemicals called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that are emitted from products. Having low VOC is extremely important for furniture to be "healthy", and we have ensured this through our "Greenguard Gold" Certification.
What does "GREENGUARD GOLD CERTIFIED" and "healthy furniture" mean?
GREENGUARD GOLD Certified means that our furniture has been rigorously tested for thousands of chemicals and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Greenguard Gold means our products have passed strict criteria and are scientifically proven to have low VOCs so that you and your family breathe in cleaner and healthier air. CertiPUR Certified Foam
All our foams are certiPUR certified. This means that our foams are made without ozone depleters, flame retardants (PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP - “Tris”), mercury, lead, and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, or phthalates. It also certifies that our foams are Low VOC for better indoor air quality.
We choose our fabrics carefully
To create the healthiest furniture, we use Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and REACH Certified fabrics. For all our fabrics - they meet globally uniform and scientifically-based test criteria standards that ensure that no hazardous chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Natural Fabrics
We also offer natural cotton/linen and wool fabrics that come from Europe and are all REACH certified. REACH certifies that no harmful chemicals have been used in the manufacturing of the products.
Our mattresses
The top 2" layer is made of 100% GOLS certified natural organic latex. GOLS stands for "Global Organic Latex Standard", and it certifies that our latex is organic and environmentally friendly. The next 6" is certiPUR foam core. (See paragraph above about foam).
Woods, glues and interior parts
We use premium hardwood and engineered plywood with interlocking construction to create a real solid piece of furniture. Our glue is water-based and LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) — yet another certification we have that ensures your safety.
Gliding Mechanisms
Our patented gliding and reclining mechanisms are made of 95% recycled steel, and are free of lead-based paint.
