One of the first questions I ask every morning is:
"How’d you sleep?"
My family members are often annoyed by my repetitive question, viewing this as a redundant, mundane inquiry that doesn’t warrant any attention. But the answer to this simple question is full of insight – frequently predicting how the day may unfold…
Good Sleep
A great night’s sleep can mean a more productive, more energetic day filled with clarity of mind and a readiness to make decisions. Good sleep is a mood-booster and a rejuvenator, so knowing someone slept well can set things up for a happier and more positive day.

Poor Sleep
A poor night’s sleep, on the other hand, can result in brain-fog, less productivity, and a more irritable day. Knowing someone slept poorly can also offer some insight into how that person is doing – if they didn’t sleep well, was it because they’re stressed? Worried about something? Have too much on their plate? Didn’t have the right covers? Or because they just need a new bed.

How can we obtain a decent night's sleep
When taking care of ourselves and others, personal hygiene and dental hygiene are paramount, but do we give enough attention to sleep hygiene?
Sleep hygiene – our routines, choices, and practises in the daytime – actually really affect our successful sleep.
Here are a few tips for healthy sleep hygiene:
1. Keep a regular sleep routine.
For kids and adults alike, a consistent bedtime and wake time can establish healthy habits and keep our circadian rhythm purring. Aim for 7 - 9 hours of sleep per night. For kids, sleep recommendations vary by age.
2. Avoid heavy meals right before bed.
Most likely, we’ve all experienced the “Oh, I ate way too much too late” syndrome that gives us the gurgly tummy, bloating, and uncomfortable sleep. If I snack on salty crunchy things before bed (my weakness!), it keeps me up with a stomach ache, acid reflux, and worse, my husband responding with, "I told you so."
3. Limit coffee, caffeine & alcohol
Caffeine can stay in our systems for up to 12 hours after consumption. Since caffeine is a stimulant, it can disrupt our sleep if consumed too late in the day. I can’t even eat chocolate after 12:00, or it keeps me up at night! Likewise, be mindful of alcohol consumption. If too much is consumed, it may put you to sleep at first, but it can disrupt your sleep later in the night.
4. Wind down before bed.
Avoid blue light (phone or tablet); instead, opt for a book or simply soft music playing while you doze off.
5. Make the bedroom dreamy
Create a sleep sanctuary by investing in a cozy bed and blackout curtains….and keep the space tidy.
An Invitation to a great night's sleep
AT MONTE DESIGN, WE’RE SERIOUS ABOUT GREAT SLEEP
Since we spend about about one-third of our lives sleeping, we believe that a great bed and mattress are worth the investment. We’ve not only designed mattresses that are made for exceptional comfort and cooling, but we’ve designed beds that are cozy, sturdy, modern….and beautiful!
And another perk of our Monte Beds? They are SO EASY to assemble!
When I took our 3rd kid to university (can it really be true? He’s the one whose namesake is on our first product ever – the Luca – and now he’s at university!?!), it took us 3 hours to build his complicated L-shaped desk; and it only took us 8 minutes to build his full-size Dorma Bed! Needless to say, I was SO grateful for his Monte Dorma Bed!
The great part is that our beds aren’t just designed for little kids or big tall university students – they’re designed for anyone and everyone! Whether you need a twin size for your toddler or a king size for your Master Bedroom, our beds are created to provide a great night’s sleep for all!
To meet the needs/demands of our customers, Monte now has 4 different styles of beds, and 2 different styles of Daybeds.
